Eco-danger in Hungary

Hungary is a country in central Europe. It's the home of a big metal factory. The factory produces a metal called aluminium.

But, on the 4th of October there was an accident at the factory. Some of the aluminium escaped from a tank in the factory.
It went into a village, then into a river, the Marcal River. Now the river is totaly red!!!

The red mud contains dangerous chemicals. Eight people have died and it has killed all the fish and wildlife. Eight thousand people from the village left their homes.

Hungarians are worried that the red water and mud will go into the River Danube. The Danube is the second-biggest river in Europe. People are trying to clean the river quickly. They have to wear special suits because this mud can burn you if it touches your skin. It's very DANGEROUS !!!!!

I think this is a serious environmental disaster; the factories should be much more careful and safer.
I hope the experts will  stop the discharge of aluminium quickly. The water of the river must be clean again and the families who have fled their homes must be helped to find a new house : that’s my wish!
