The Wizard of Oz – a show by 2F ( ex- 1F )

Last week we watched the video of the show we performed at the end of last school year ( we were in 1F at that time! ). We laughed and talked with our teacher a lot, then we agreed that we were not so bad at acting… here are some photos and our comments on that experience.

On 25th May2009 we performed “ The Wizard of Oz “ in our school. We attended the first year of “Scuola media “then. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. ( Magdeline, Maora and Kevin )

This show was about a little girl called Dorothy that flies to the Land of Oz and tries to go back home in every way. It was very funny. ( Giada )

The story takes place in Kansas, in the USA. The main character is the Wizard of Oz. Everybody goes to him to ask for something and he satisfies them in the end, but the final is a bit strange. ( Zeno )

I was Dorothy, one of the main characters and I was happy when I was chosen for that part. I played the narrator too, so I had two roles. In act 8 I played with my friend Rosa. She was the Scarecrow and she was very good! ( Camilla )

We played Dorothy. She goes to Emerald City and she hopes the Wizard can help her. We liked acting with our classmates because we were a real group. ( Pietra and Nicole )

I played Doroty with five other classmates. I wore a white blouse, blue jeans and white shoes. We all had a red head scarf. We chose all the songs: they were beautiful! ( Giovanna )

I was the Wicked Witch of the West ( Rosa ) and Dorothy killed me with water! We studied our parts very well and we were good at speaking. We were very happy because all of us worked together. ( Rosa e Katia )

I was the Good Witch of the North. I was dressed in a white dress and violet shoes. The show was appreciated by everybody. ( Marina)

I was the Lion and this is my favourite animal so I loved my role. I liked the show too. ( Rocco )

I played the Lion too. I had short hair, a yellow t-shirt and a brown fur jacket. I didn’t like the show: I felt awful! I only enjoyed myself when I had to fall down on the floor. Anyway, my dad told me we acted well. ( Roberto )

I played the Tin Woodman, a nice man who looked like a robot. This part was short but important. The show was very funny. ( Elio )

The show was very interesting and the music was beautiful but we liked the rehearsals too! Our English teacher was happy and she helped us. The Technology teacher took some photos: they are very nice. ( Valentina and Aya ).

It was a great experience. We prepared the scenery with our Art teacher and Zeno’s mum. We chose different pieces of music for the different acts and we made a CD: it was great! Some mums helped us with the costumes: they were so funny! ( Luca, Filippo and Matteo )

I played the Wizard of Oz with Zeno and Angelica . This role was very important but a bit long and difficult. Anyway, I learnt it and I liked acting. ( Giovanni )

The show was difficult but the moral is clear at the end: everybody has got important qualities such as intelligence, courage or kindness, and nobody could ever give them to us. It only takes a little bit of good will to find them inside ourselves: it’s not very hard! ( Marina, Giada and Luca )

And this is our ( personal ) message: come to corso F to do drama with us! ( Rocco, Giovanni and Elio )
